The M4A1 Asa Thor is an automatic assault rifle used by rifle men, and is periodically available for permanent purchase through the on-line item mall for soldiers of any rank. It is an upgraded model and custom variant of the M4A1, featuring blood red and electric blue paintwork, ambient electricity crackles, flashing lights and unique reload and draw animations.
Overview
The M4A1 Asa Thor was modeled around the MK.4 version of the M4A1 and therefore features exceptionally high range, in addition to an increase in damage, accuracy and stability. As with all the M4A1's successors, the rate of fire has been reduced slightly to compensate for the buff. The usability of this weapon is not noticeably different between crouching and walking – its ability to spray in reasonably large bursts while remaining controllable makes it a very versatile choice.
Depending on your choice of modifications, the M4A1 Asa Thor's ability to enter fully automatic fire is viable at close and even medium ranges. Horizontal recoil and bloom can become problematic during such fire, which is why it's recommended to occasionally fire in smaller bursts or allow the weapon to cool. At longer ranges you should not enter automatic fire, but larger bursts of four or five shots can still be comfortably made without affecting the usability too much.
The M4A1 Asa Thor is capable of killing targets with a single head-shot at distances up to 10 meters, so in close-quarters, you're recommended to aim around upper torso and head area in order to accumulate damage quickly. Since the accuracy becomes questionable at distances past 25 meters, the effort required to actively aim for the head isn't worth it, so aiming instead for the center of the body and utilizing this weapon's spray capability will be more useful.
Damage is dealt and armor is penetrated very consistently throughout the entire body, with the only visible difference being the expected drop in damage to the arms and legs. This consistency allows for very little required precision when engaging with distant targets, as you can expect each shot to deal around the same amount. While racking up damage in these situations can become tedious, you can usually rely on the M4A1 Asa Thor's stability to out-endure your opponent.

Recommended Builds
Stability Build
- Burst Barrel (–1.5 accuracy, –1.2 auto fire accuracy, +0.28 auto fire)
- Customize Trigger Mechanism (+0.3 recoil control, –0.32 auto fire)
- Weight Grip (+0.1 recoil control, –0.7 mobility)
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
35.0 (-3.0 – 3.0) | 69.6 | 82.7 | 95.0 | 10.38 | 32 | 94.3 |
This set-up will improve the overall damage per second of the weapon by slightly increasing the rate of fire, and dramatically increases the stability which allows it to perform effectively at longer ranges. The Sharpshooter Barrel is not recommended for this build due to the drop in fire rate – the accuracy gained is not substantial enough to make a viable difference. With this set-up, you can comfortably burst in short amounts even at large distances while keeping the cross-hair reasonably tight.
Mid-range Build
- Burst Barrel (–1.5 accuracy, –1.2 auto fire accuracy, +0.28 auto fire)
- Mechanism Improvement (–1.2 accuracy, –1.0 auto fire accuracy, +0.28 auto fire)
- Weight Grip (+0.1 recoil control, –0.7 mobility)
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
35.0 (-3.0 – 3.0) | 69.6 | 81.5 | 94.7 | 10.98 | 32 | 94.3 |
This set-up produces the highest damage per second of any build available for this weapon at the cost of a reduction in accuracy and only a minimal boost in stability. This makes the weapon slightly more difficult to control at longer ranges, but will allow you to perform marginally better against targets at close and medium ranges. Spray capability is still adequate at at these distances, but the accuracy may be difficult to maintain if you do not occasionally burst in smaller amounts or let the weapon cool.
Notable Comparisons
XM8
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
37.2 (-4.2 – 1.8) | 66.9 | 83.2 | 90.9 | 9.62 | 30 | 93.2 |
The XM8, being very similar statistic-wise, shares the same play-style as the M4A1 Asa Thor. The XM8's damage and armor penetration are both higher, but the dramatic decrease in rate of fire makes for a comparable damage output. Both of these weapons perform their best at medium range and can out-endure other popular weapons at long range. But again, both suffer slightly at short range, especially against point men. The XM8 suffers from inaccuracy during full automatic fire, and since spray capability is essential, some users will prefer the M4A1 Asa Thor.
FN-F2000
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
35.0 (-3.0 – 3.0) | 63.4 | 75.8 | 90.1 | 9.90 | 30 | 94.3 |
The FN-F2000, by default, comes with an exceptional capability to spray, featuring extremely high accuracy and stability – its ability to enter into and maintain automatic fire exceeds the M4A1 Asa Thor's. However, with the exact same damage but a lower range and a heavily reduced rate of fire, the FN-F2000 cannot deal damage as efficiently as the M4A1 Asa Thor, but nevertheless may still be preferable when engaging in longer distances due to the usability. Due to a difference in play-style, weapon choice goes largely down to the user's preference.

Tips
• The M4A1 Asa Thor was designed to be sprayed – don't be afraid to hold the trigger down for a little longer if it means securing the kill. Fully automatic fire can be viable even at medium ranges, but keep your cross-hair aimed at the center of your target in order to ensure maximum coverage.

• Even at longer ranges, depending on your choice of modifications, the M4A1 Asa Thor is able to fire in as many as five-shot bursts, which allows you to endure past a great deal of other weapons. Take cover if you need to, or fire shorter bursts if horizontal recoil or bloom get problematic.

• Despite the M4A1 Asa Thor having a scope available, it is not recommended to use it due to the drop in fire rate and the lack of precision. If you really need to increase the accuracy, look into modifying the weapon to suit your needs, or try to crouch more often to improve your shot grouping.

Trivia
• The variant name of the M4A1 Asa Thor refers to the Germanic god Thor; a hammer-wielding god associated with thunder, lightning and storms. The altercations to the physical design and revamped animations pay homage to typical traits Thor is attributed in modern cinematography.

• The M4A1 Asa Thor exceeds the ammo capacity of most other variants and has the highest capacity of any M4A1 that can be modified – its large magazine is one higher than the M4A1 BRONX and is exceeded only by versions of the M4A1 such as the X-plorer Blaster that can't be modified.

• Despite the M4A1 Asa Thor being a derivative of its MK.4 counterpart, it is modifiable, allowing the user to change the weapon to suit their particular play-style. This weapon has two very distinct sets of modifications, with one focused around stabilization and the other around increasing fire rate.
