“ | A custom variant of the SA-58 Para with a roaring bear design. Your enemies will be frightened to death! | ” |
— Weapon Description |
The SA58-Para Black Bear is an automatic assault rifle used by rifle men, and is periodically available for timed purchase through the on-line item mall by soldiers of any rank. It is a custom variant of the SA58 Para, featuring blood red and burnt orange paintwork across the entire chassis, and a roaring bear visage on the main body.
Overview
As the SA58-Para Black Bear is a custom variant as opposed to being an upgraded model, you can expect to see the same performance as the original SA58 Para, meaning that extremely high damage, range, fire rate and armor penetration are still present. Where the focus of this weapon has been heavily set on a large damage output, an expected deficiency in stability and prolonged accuracy is present, which can become more noticeable when faced against multiple targets or at long range.
While recoil at longer ranges can be problematic - the high range means that the SA58-Para Black Bear will maintain damage output over a significant distance, making it easier to secure kills in fewer shots, and subsequently still makes it suited for demolition and other larger, more open maps. Unlike most rifle man weapons that are designed for longer range, engaging with targets at close-range does not give too much of a disadvantage due to the high fire rate and consequential damage output.
The SA58-Para Black Bear has exceptional armor penetration. Even at up to 40 meters, the damage done with a single shot to the head can bring your target down to critical health. Shots landed on any other part of the body rip armor away at a fast and consistent rate. The largest problem is maintaining this weapon's usability in extended fire – fully automatic fire is not viable unless you are at point-blanc range; tapping is the most effective method of securing kills, even at mid-range.
Despite having a remarkable damage output, the usability of the SA58-Para Black Bear does not allow it to endure past other conventional weapons, meaning that you will find yourself shift-walking and crouching much more often than you would with other popular rifle man weapons such as the M4A1 and AK-47. This makes strafing less feasible and potentially makes you a bigger target. This can be offset by tapping fast and landing as many successive shots as possible in the shortest time.

Recommended Builds
Versatility Build
- Long Range Barrel (+5.9 range)
- Ergonomic Grip (+1.5 accuracy, +0.5 auto fire accuracy)
- Recoil Control Stock (+0.1 recoil control)
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
50.0 (-4.0 – 4.0) | 66.0 | 95.4 | 59.6 | 10.00 | 25 | 90.5 |
This set-up will award a minor increase to accuracy and stability without affecting the rate at which you can comfortably tap the weapon. The dramatic increase to range provided by the Long Range Barrel means that fewer shots are required to land to secure a kill – although the range of this weapon is already very high, this barrel ensures that its versatility is maintained over bigger distances. Head-shots have a very heavy focus, so ensuring you deal the highest possible damage per shot is important.
Stability Build
- Spetsnaz Edition (+0.4 accuracy, +28.8 auto fire accuracy, +1.4 recoil control)
- Ergonomic Grip (+1.5 accuracy, +0.5 auto fire accuracy)
- Recoil Control Stock (+0.1 recoil control)
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
50.0 (-4.0 – 4.0) | 60.1 | 95.8 | 61.0 | 10.00 | 25 | 90.5 |
Swapping out for the Spetsnaz Edition will yield a noticeable deficiency in damage, which is observed especially if you have already become used to the Long Range Barrel. However, this set-up is recommended for people who are just starting out with this weapon, or those who find it difficult to control the recoil associated with it. Despite the huge increase to auto fire accuracy, you are still advised to tap where possible, as the recoil will still become difficult to control when bursting.
Notable Comparisons
AK-12
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
49.0 (-4.0 – 4.0) | 63.4 | 94.2 | 64.9 | 8.70 | 30 | 92.4 |
The AK-12, having been released later than the SA58-Para Black Bear, has been modernized, most notably with an increase to accuracy, stability and range – seeing the AK-12 used commonly by those who enjoyed earlier versions of the SA58 Para. Despite the upgrade to usability the AK-12, much like the SA58-Para Black Bear, still needs to be tapped to maintain control; it is uncommon to see it even be bursted due to the drop in stability. The SA58 Para and subsequent variants nevertheless remain popular due to the higher fire rate – tapping is made much more effective at mid-range.
M14 DMR
Attack | Range | Accuracy | Control | Auto Fire | Capacity | Mobility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
49.0 (-4.0 – 4.0) | 66.9 | 94.4 | 62.8 | 8.47 | 20 | 91.3 |
Similarly to the AK-12, the M14 DMR was released much later than the SA58-Para Black Bear, and also sees the same modernization: an increase to accuracy, stability and range. Contrarily, the M14 DMR is actually capable of 2-shot bursting quite comfortably with certain modifications at mid to close-range. At further ranges, again, you'll find that tapping is the most efficient way of handling the recoil. The M14 DMR however also sees a drop in fire rate and has 5 less ammo than the SA58-Para Black Bear}, which makes it the less favorable of the two for those looking to tap fast.

Tips
• The large range of the SA58-Para Black Bear means that damage and armor penetration are maintained over most distances – head-shot damage doesn't drop significantly until you're past 40 meters, and armor penetration throughout the rest of the body is consistent, so concentrate on landing as many shots as possible.

• Both the accuracy and stability of the SA58-Para Black Bear can become extremely temperamental, especially during prolonged fire, so you should only be looking to fire while standing still (or shift-walking) or crouching. If you need to escape a scenario, focus on running away as opposed to firing simultaneously.

• Despite the SA58-Para Black Bear having a scope modification available, it is not recommended due to the drop in fire rate and the lack of precision. To maximize accuracy, tap as often as possible in order to improve shot grouping. Zooming in with this weapon can be beneficial when attempting to get head-shots.

Trivia
• The SA58-Para Black Bear is one of the few weapons that has never been made available for permanent purchase. It has seen many debuts on the on-line item mall, having been included in Tiered Spenders, however these appearances have only ever seen it made available for timed purchase.

• Both the SA58-Para Black Bear and its original counterpart, the SA58 Para, share the same statistics and available modifications. Use of this cosmetic variant can signify prestige or, being an additional reward, can serve as a replacement for using euros to purchase and maintain the repair costs.

• As with some other timed weapons, the SA58-Para Black Bear has many of its modifications available for 1 euro, meaning that both recurring and maintenance costs are dramatically reduced. The two exceptions are the Spetsnaz Edition and Precision Trigger, which still have their original prices.
