Type 64 7.62mm Rifle kill feed

[Type 64 7.62mm Rifle] An assault rifle developed and used by the Japanese troops during World War 2.
  — Weapon Description

The Type 64 7.62mm Rifle is an automatic assault rifle used by rifle men, and was available for timed purchase in the first installment of the Mega Capsules. It is an original as opposed to an upgraded model and/or custom variant; having been based on the real-life weapon of the same name.

Overview

The Type 64 7.62mm Rifle is a slow but very high-powered rifle that boasts both impressive damage and armor penetration. This comes with an expected deficiency in its stability and fire rate, but attempts to offset this with its tight initial cross-hair. Similarly to other weapons of a similar tier, you are expected to tap in most situations in order to maintain usability; especially at larger ranges, where the drop in stability will become increasingly apparent the further you are away.

While recoil at longer ranges can be problematic - the high range means that the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle will maintain damage output over a significant distance, making it easier to secure kills in fewer shots, and subsequently still makes it suited for demolition and other larger, more open maps. While the penalty for fully-automatic fire is still observed unless you're at point-blank range, unlike other similar tapping weapons, two-shot bursting is partially viable against relatively close targets.

The Type 64 7.62mm Rifle has exceptional armor penetration. Even at up to 30 meters, the damage done with a single shot to the head can bring your target down to critical health. Shots landed on any other part of the body rip armor away at a fast and consistent rate. The largest problem is maintaining this weapon's usability in extended fire – fully automatic fire is not viable unless you are at point-blank range; tapping is the most effective method of securing kills, even at mid-range.

Despite having a remarkable potential damage, the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle quite commonly struggles against more modern weapons due to its insufficient fire rate. Being considerably lower than most other rifles in the proceeding meta, it relies on either head-shots or consistently landing consecutive shots. Other more popular tapping weapons such as the AK-12 do not exert this hindrance and as such can be fired at a faster speed. Therefore, focusing exactly where you're aiming is a large priority.

The FG42, similarly to the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle, is also quite an aged weapon that was designed to be a classic high-powered rifle with significant kick. Again, despite the high potential damage, the FG42 will find it difficult to complete against other modern weapons that attempt to achieve the same output but with a heightened stability and fire rate. Both weapons feature a very tight initial shot grouping, which gradually becomes less effective during prolonged fire, even when tapping. This makes it impractical to engage enemies at large distances without landing head-shots.

34.0 (-4.0 – 4.0) 61.7 89.1 69.1 9.57 25 94.3

Although the G3A3 was a former starter weapon, it has a surprisingly high damage, range and accuracy once modified. It has very apparent similarities to the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle, especially when considering the amount of shots required to secure a kill, in addition to its recoil and bloom patterns. These two weapons also have comparable statistics across the board and rely on tapping as a method of enduring prolonged fire. Firefights can be a big challenge, most notably so when faced against multiple targets, and as such their use is more commonly seen in larger maps with fewer players.

Variants

The Type 64 7.62mm Rifle does not currently have any variants.

Tips

If you would like to create your own tip, please make sure you read the example usage for the tip template first.
• The large range of the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle means damage and armor penetration are maintained effectively – head-shot damage doesn't drop significantly even at large distances, and penetration throughout the body is consistent, so concentrate on landing as many shots as possible.

• The usability of the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle can become temperamental, especially during prolonged fire, so you'll find that crouching whenever possible is very effective. Fully-automatic fire is almost never advised, so you should tap regardless of the distance from your target.

• You can zoom in with the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle, but there's no particular recommendation for or against doing so; zooming only subtly improves your usability, but equally there seems to be little benefit from doing so due to the reduced field of vision and mobility.

Trivia

If you would like to add your own trivia, please make sure you read the example usage for the tip template first.
• The Type 64 7.62mm Rifle is one of the few weapons that has never been made available for permanent purchase. It was released as a part of the first season of the Mega Capsules as a timed weapon (30 days). As of 1 January 2016, it has not been made available since.

• As the Type 64 7.62mm Rifle has been quite difficult to obtain, users looking to utilize a weapon with similar performance may notice the distinct similarities to the FG42, in both damage output and usability. Although the FG42 deals less damage, it has a heightened fire rate.

• The Type 64 7.62mm Rifle does not have any available modifications. This, along with the fact there are no maintenance fees, means it omits the need to pay for any recurring costs. It also means, with the exception of ammo boosts, all iterations of this weapon are the same.
