The signature machine gun of the Red Army in World War 2, with a high-capacity drum cartridge that holds up to 71 rounds. Better known as the 'Red Army Shooty'.
  — Weapon Description

The PPSh-41 (Pistolet-Pulemyot Shpagina 1941) is a Sub Machine Gun first introduced during the 12-08-09 Content Update.

Real World History[]

The Russian PPSh-41 submachine gun in WWII was used extensively in urban combat where its blithering rate of fire earned it the nickname the "Burp Gun." Entire regiments of the Soviet Union army were equipped purely with this weapon, as it was a highly effective, simple, and powerful weapon.

The PPSH-41 was the most commonly scavenged weapon by Wehrmacht from Russian forces during World War II.

The PPSH-41, being essentially of scrap wood and metal, has been known to malfunction frequently in real life. This is because the drum magazine often didn't reload into the gun properly, causing a jam. This was another reason why the box magazine was chosen.

The 71-round drum magazine, based on a Finnish design from 1940, was phased out in favor of a 35-round box magazine that became more popular due to - though it held less ammunition - the fact that the drum was awkward to hold and tended to malfunction. The typical loadout for a soldier was one drum and three boxes.

PPSH-41's were usually mass produced on a production line using sheet metal stamps in their day. The PPSH-41 was cheap to manufacture and its one-piece stock simplified the weapon's constuction.

Overview[]

The PPSh-41 is a Point Man weapon, a submachine gun holding an incredible 71 rounds per drum magazine, with 71 rounds in reserve. This weapon is extremely useful for any Prison Break mode due to its extremely high fire rate and its high magazine capacity.

In the hands of a skilled Point man, this weapon can be disastrous to the enemy team. It can survive a long firefight due to its large ammo capacity, however you should always watch your ammo level as this gun fires relatively fast.

It has moderate power at moderate range. it can hold its own at decently long range, but only if fire can be maintained. It is close to unstoppable in close quarters. Overall, this is a very good gun to have.

Tips[]

PPSh-41 is rather user-friendly as some may say, and with enough practice you can see the gun has a predictable recoil that you can control. Yet it is advised to fire with 5-8 round burst so as to reduce bloom as the accuracy of this weapon is rather poor.
